Aftercare

Caring for yourself after treatment — rest, integration, and follow-up — to help you get the most from your ketamine care program.

The time after your treatment session is an important part of your care. How you rest, reflect, and follow up can support your overall experience and help your provider monitor your progress.

Rest and Recover

  • Plan to rest for the remainder of the treatment day
  • Listen to your body — some patients feel energetic, others feel tired
  • Stay hydrated and eat light, nourishing meals
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours

Integration Practices

  • Journal about your experience while it's fresh — thoughts, feelings, or insights
  • Reflect on any shifts you noticed in your mood or perspective
  • Some patients find meditation or gentle breathing helpful
  • Be patient with yourself — integration unfolds over days, not hours

Follow-Up Visits

  • Attend all scheduled follow-up visits with your provider
  • Follow-up visits are required for ongoing treatment
  • Use this time to share how you're responding and any concerns
  • Your provider may adjust your plan based on your progress

Things to Avoid After Treatment

  • Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until your provider confirms it's safe
  • Avoid alcohol and recreational substances
  • Avoid making major life decisions on treatment day
  • Limit intense social obligations — give yourself space to recover
  • Avoid skipping your follow-up appointments, even if you feel better

When to contact your provider: Reach out if you experience persistent discomfort, unusual side effects, or have concerns about your response to treatment. If you are experiencing a crisis or medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate care.
