Preparing for Treatment
A simple guide to help you get ready for your at-home ketamine care session — setting up your space, arranging support, and knowing what to expect.
Preparation helps create a safe, comfortable environment for your treatment. This guide covers the basics — your provider may give you additional, personalized instructions based on your treatment plan.
Set Up Your Space
- Choose a quiet, private room where you won't be disturbed
- Make the space comfortable — pillows, blankets, and dim lighting
- Keep the room at a comfortable temperature
- Remove clutter and anything that could cause tripping or discomfort
- Consider an eye mask and headphones if they help you relax
Arrange a Support Person
- Have a trusted friend or family member available during your session
- Your support person should remain nearby in case you need assistance
- They should not leave you alone during the treatment experience
- Share your provider's contact information with them in advance
What to Have on Hand
- Water or other clear liquids within reach
- Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
- A phone in case you need to contact your provider
- A journal or notebook for reflecting afterward
- Tissues and a small trash bag nearby
Before Your Session
- Follow any specific instructions your provider has given you
- Avoid heavy meals immediately before treatment — light snacking is generally fine unless your provider advises otherwise
- Do not consume alcohol or recreational substances before treatment
- Review your treatment plan and any materials your provider has shared
- Take a few moments to set an intention or simply relax before beginning
Important: These are general guidelines only. Always follow the specific instructions provided by your licensed provider. If you have questions about preparing for your specific treatment, contact your provider before beginning.
